What to check on used equipment

See it run under load, ask for age and service history, confirm parts are available, and check power needs before you buy. Read the full buying guides · What is my machine worth?

Screen printing

Presses

Check play in heads and indexer, platen level, micro-registration travel, and air leaks on automatics. Ask for head count, max print size and air compressor needs.

Screen printing

Dryers & flash units

Under-cured plastisol cracks and washes out, so check even temperature across the belt, belt tracking and heating element condition.

Screen printing

Exposure & screen room

Check lamp or LED output and age, the vacuum blanket for tears and full draw-down, and the timer. Ask for max frame size.

Embroidery

Single and multi-head

Total stitch count, a clean satin test sew-out, thread break sensors, frame travel and cap driver. Ask what frames and software come with it.

DTF

DTF printers

The printhead is the costly wear part: run a nozzle check, check white ink circulation, capping station, wiper and film feed.

DTF & transfers

Shakers, dryers & heat presses

Check platen temperature across the surface, pressure adjustment, and powder coverage and curing on the shaker.
